The NYT has collaborated with The Athletic, a premier sports news outlet, to launch this thrilling daily word game. Each puzzle consists of 16 words, which are grouped into four distinct categories. These categories can encompass a wide range of topics, including but not limited to book titles, software names, or country names. While several words may appear to fit a category, only one combination will be deemed correct, demanding careful consideration and strategic thinking from players.
When a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are promptly removed from the board, allowing for further progress. However, incorrect guesses are counted as mistakes, and players are permitted up to four mistakes before the game concludes, adding an extra layer of challenge to the experience.
Players have the option to rearrange and shuffle the word board, which can greatly facilitate the process of identifying connections. Furthermore, each category is color-coded for ease of use: yellow denotes the easiest category, followed by green, blue, and finally purple. Similar to Wordle, players can share their results with friends on social media, fostering a sense of community and friendly competition.
