‘Sanford and Son’ Actor Passes Away at 79

Grady Demond Wilson, famed for his role as Lamont Sanford on the iconic NBC sitcom “Sanford and Son,” has sadly passed away.
According to his son, Demond Wilson Jr., he was pronounced dead on Friday morning at his residence in Palm Springs, California. He succumbed to complications related to cancer.
The specific type of cancer has not been disclosed. Wilson Jr. expressed, “I loved him. He was a great man.”
Grady Wilson starred in “Sanford and Son” from 1972 to 1977. He later portrayed Raymond Ellis in the short-lived sitcom “Baby… I’m Back!” and starred in “The New Odd Couple,” which aired for one season in the early ’80s.
Wilson also ventured into film, notably starring in “Me and the Kid” in 1993.
His last performance was in the drama “Eleanor’s Bench” in 2023, marking a return after nearly a 20-year hiatus from acting, as per his IMDb page.
