“He killed my kid over grits and eggs,” expressed Elizabeth Locklear, the aunt of the deceased, in an emotional statement. “How do you get so upset over grits and eggs to where you want to take somebody’s life?” This heart-wrenching quote underscores the senselessness of the violence that occurred.
According to USA Today, Lizano Jr. was ultimately captured by law enforcement on January 24, 2025, in Portsmouth, Virginia, marking the end of his time on the run and beginning the next phase of the legal process.
