He boldly stated that the event was filled with fashion misses, claiming only one celebrity truly impressed him! “All of the looks were just terrible on terrible and then a little more terrible,” he expressed passionately. Furthermore, he referred to the entire event as a “graveyard” and pointed out that Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Kim Kardashian all “failed to impress” this time around.
“The vibes were not vibing at the Met Gala. It was like a graveyard […] and the real kicker was Beyoncé appears at the end like the grim reaper, honey, dressed like Skeletor, just there to take everyone’s souls down to the underworld,” EJ elaborated, emphasizing his disappointment.
Following his critique, Johnson highlighted the importance of recognizing emerging talents who are making impactful fashion statements, even if they aren’t yet household names. He expressed that the well-known celebrities simply aren’t bringing their usual flair, suggesting that it’s time to elevate fresh faces within the fashion scene.
“We need to seek out the girls who are coming in and doing it right, even if we’re unfamiliar with their names. I have to research them because they represent the next wave of style icons and trendsetters […] the individuals who are truly getting it right,” Johnson articulated. “We should not be overly concerned with the big names because they are not delivering, and instead, we must pay attention to new talent that deserves our recognition,” he added.
