Smart Dogs Training Academy is facing intense criticism on Yelp after influencer Madeleine White and her husband, DJ Andrew Fedyk, alleged that their dog tragically died while under the academy’s supervision.
The academy’s Yelp profile is currently inundated with one-star reviews, all mentioning Dunkin, the couple’s two-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog.
Madeleine and Andrew Fedyk reported that Dunkin passed away during a board-and-train program in Studio City, sparking outrage among internet users who are now directing their frustration towards the academy’s review page.
One reviewer accused Smart Dogs of subjecting dogs to extreme temperatures, stating, “Do not trust them with a beloved family member.”
Another reviewer claimed Dunkin died due to “negligence and stupidity,” while a third user posted, “Justice for Dunkin,” urging pet owners to steer clear of the facility.

Other reviews demanded the closure of Smart Dogs, accused its staff of failing Dunkin, and raised concerns about the disappearance of the facility’s social media accounts.
The surge of negative reviews prompted Yelp to place an “Unusual Activity Alert” at the top of Smart Dogs’ page and temporarily suspend new posts.
A disclaimer from Yelp indicates that the business has received heightened public attention, which can influence individuals to leave comments based on news coverage rather than personal experiences. The platform is currently reviewing the content on the page before allowing reviews to reopen.
Madeleine and Andrew appeared on “TMZ Live” Thursday, sharing that they invested $10,000 to enroll their two Bernese Mountain Dogs in a four-week board-and-train program at Smart Dogs Training Academy.
The couple recounted that just two days into the program, they received the heartbreaking news that Dunkin had passed away. Staff informed them that the dogs had been taken to a park due to extreme heat and were in transit to a Hollywood kennel when Dunkin died.
Andrew, who is also recognized as part of the DJ duo Loud Luxury, is pursuing a necropsy and has urged the LAPD and Los Angeles Animal Services to investigate the circumstances surrounding Dunkin’s death.
