Debbie Nelson passed away in St. Joseph, Missouri, on the evening of Monday. According to TMZ, which was the first outlet to break the news, she had been battling complications related to lung cancer. This painful chapter follows the loss of Eminem’s estranged father, who died at the age of 67 in 2019, highlighting the rapper’s ongoing struggles with family relationships.

The public first learned about Debbie’s health struggles in September when InTouch Weekly reported that she was terminally ill with “advanced” cancer and had a limited time to live. An insider revealed that Debbie was frequently shifting between stays at a specialized cancer treatment center and the homes of family members. This situation painted a picture of a mother in need of support, with claims that Eminem was still financially assisting her despite their strained relationship. The source emphasized, “She has a very limited amount of time,” indicating the urgency of the circumstances.
“People around her aren’t even sure if Eminem is even aware of what is happening to his mother,” the insider shared with InTouch Weekly. “He’s good to his mom.
