Attorney for Cornell Fraternity Brother Challenges University Officials Through Private Correspondence ‘Shame on All of You’

An attorney representing one of the Cornell fraternity members involved in a lawsuit regarding alleged gang rape criticized the university during the investigation in 2025, according to information obtained by TMZ.
TMZ has secured a purported email dated May 16, 2025, from attorney Jeremy Saland, who represented one of the accused individuals, addressed to Cornell officials amid the Title IX investigation.
In his email, Jeremy accused one of the panel members responsible for deciding his client’s fate of being distracted while driving during a witness’s testimony. He requested that the hearing be postponed for the day, but his appeal was denied.
Saland expressed, “Regardless of who made the final decision, and despite Cornell’s ongoing neglect for the rule of law, as well as honesty and ethical standards concerning the accused—particularly in light of the clear lack of evidence demonstrating [redacted] innocence, it is both infuriating and alarming.”
He further remarked, “I cannot help but question whether this misconduct and negligence are widespread at your esteemed Ivy League institution and if it merits a deeper investigation.”
In another email sent a few days later, Jeremy communicated with officials, stating, “Unfortunately for Cornell, irrespective of whether [redacted] is guilty or innocent, the university’s shortcomings cannot be overlooked. No student should endure such unprofessional conduct. Cornell should aim to set a high standard rather than sink to a level of unprincipled behavior.”
He concluded his email with a strong message: “Whether it is the actions of President Donald Trump or the administration of Cornell University, pretending to uphold integrity while knowing it is a facade, is always wrong. You must do better. Shame on all of you.”
The university ultimately ruled that the fraternity brother had engaged in attempted sexual exploitation. As a consequence, Cornell mandated that he complete a course addressing social media and sexual harassment, write a reflective paper, and adhere to a no-contact order with the accuser.
