The comet is currently on an exhilarating trajectory toward either remarkable visibility or catastrophic doom, depending on the outcome of its close encounter with the Sun.
Comets are fascinating remnants from the formation of our solar system, composed of materials such as dust, rock, and ice. As comets approach the Sun, they undergo heating, causing them to emit gases and dust. This results in the glowing head we observe, which can sometimes be larger than entire planets. The remaining dust and gas then form a long tail that stretches away from the Sun for millions of miles, as explained by NASA.
As comets reach perihelion, the point of closest approach to the Sun, the intense heat can lead to their complete disintegration, causing them to vanish from existence. Conversely, if a comet survives this critical phase, it can appear significantly brighter in the night sky.
