Luka Doncic is challenging the legal actions of his ex-fiancée, stating she should consider the appropriate jurisdiction for their ongoing custody battle over their two children, as reported by TMZ Sports.
The NBA superstar filed documents on Friday requesting an L.A. County judge to dismiss Anamaria Goltes‘ petition for child support and attorney fees. He argues that she filed in California despite the fact that their children reside in Slovenia.
In the legal documents acquired by TMZ Sports, Luka and his attorney Laura Wasser emphasize that neither he nor their daughters are California residents. Luka has reportedly attempted for months to persuade Anamaria to relocate to California with their children, but she has declined since moving back to Slovenia last May.
Luka asserts that prior to Anamaria’s recent filing for child support, he submitted a petition in Slovenia in February. This petition addresses both custody and child support matters.
Luka claims he already covers all expenses for their two daughters, Gabriela, aged 2, and Olivia, who is 4 months old. He cites his 3-year, $165 million contract as a reason for his financial capability. Luka argues that Anamaria’s filing in California is a “clear attempt to forum shop” to benefit from California’s generous child support laws.
When ending their engagement, Luka stated to ESPN, “Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness. I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can.”
Luka is requesting the court to dismiss Anamaria’s California filing, arguing that it is procedurally defective and legally improper.
