They revealed that Mariah confessed to unintentionally placing her 1-month-old child in a hot oven while she thought she was putting her down for a nap, a mistake that tragically led to the infant’s death.
As reported by The Kansas City Star, the infant was pronounced dead on February 9 at a residence in Manheim Park, Kansas City. Police responded to a distress call about a “non-breathing infant” shortly before 1:30 p.m. During their response, officers discovered the baby displayed evident signs of burns and melted clothing, indicative of the horrifying circumstances surrounding this incident.
According to PEOPLE, Thomas reached out to an unidentified individual to report her tragic error, as indicated in court documents. She reportedly stated, “I thought I put her in her crib and I accidentally put her in the oven,” reflecting her panic during the call.
