Renowned book publisher Penguin Random House is fully committed to Larian’s acclaimed RPG, launching an extensive new publishing initiative designed to “bring the game’s rich world, profound love, and unforgettable characters to life on the page.” This endeavor promises to immerse readers in the captivating universe that fans adore.
The standout release from this initiative is a novel dedicated to Astarion, the beloved vampire character who has captured the hearts of many. This engaging story, crafted by author T. Kingfisher, known for her work on Snake-Eater, takes place prior to the events of the game, during Astarion’s harrowing time as a slave to Cazador Czarr. For those concerned about the book’s authenticity and alignment with the game’s narrative, Penguin Random House has enlisted Stephen Rooney, a senior writer on Baldur’s Gate 3, as a consultant. Rooney played a pivotal role in writing Astarion’s character arc. Moreover, Neil Newbon will return to voice Astarion in the audiobook version, ensuring fans get a truly immersive experience.
In addition to the Astarion novel, fans can look forward to a variety of Baldur’s Gate 3-themed books, including engaging cooking and coloring books, along with The Necromancy of Thay. This particular title is a blank notebook featuring grid-paper and an embossed skull cover, inspired by a book within the game’s rich lore. The coloring book offers 40 pages of intricate black-and-white illustrations by Jaki King, depicting characters, locations, and creatures that players will recognize from their adventures. Meanwhile, the cookbook, titled A Feast for a Tenday, boasts 65 delicious recipes organized by course and camp location, complete with captivating chapter illustrations and photographs of the delectable dishes.
The Necromancy of Thay notebook marks the beginning of the Baldur’s Gate 3 publishing series, set to launch on July 21, followed by the coloring book on August 11, and the highly anticipated Baldur’s Gate 3: Astarion on September 29. The series will culminate with the release of A Feast For a Tenday.
