Warren Sapp is under investigation for an alleged battery incident that occurred at a senior living facility in Florida. Prosecutors have decided not to pursue charges against the former NFL player, as confirmed by reports from TMZ.
A police report, obtained by TMZ, reveals that officers from the Apopka Police Department were called to the Solaris Healthcare facility on May 25. The call was made by a female employee who claimed that Warren became physical during a confrontation.
The employee reported that Warren arrived at Solaris seeking information about records and insurance matters concerning his family members. He expressed frustration due to issues with denied claims and allegedly became verbally aggressive.
The employee stated that she contacted her male supervisor and put him on speakerphone for Warren to hear. During this conversation, Warren’s agitation reportedly increased. She claimed that he attempted to grab her phone, making contact with her wrist in the process.
The woman recounted telling Warren, “Don’t touch me,” and she requested that other staff members call the police to report the incident.
Warren reportedly left the facility prior to the police’s arrival. Officers reviewed security footage but were unable to confirm the alleged physical contact due to the camera angle.
Law enforcement attempted to reach Warren for his side of the story, but he did not return their calls. Officers indicated that there was probable cause to charge him with battery; however, prosecutors made the decision not to file charges on June 12.
