Nicki Minaj‘s lawyers say they no longer wish to represent the rapper in one of her lawsuits and have asked a judge for permission to withdraw from the case, according to documents reported by TMZ. The filing cites a breakdown in communication between the legal team and Nicki Minaj.
According to newly obtained legal documents, the law firm Kurzman Eisenberg Corbin & Lever is seeking permission to stop representing Nicki Minaj and her company, Pink Friday Productions, in a lawsuit filed by 24/7 Productions. The dispute concerns expenses that 24/7 Productions says it incurred in connection with the Pink Friday 2 album.
The lawsuit alleges that Nicki Minaj and Pink Friday Productions failed to reimburse more than $200,000 in expenses that 24/7 Productions says it incurred in connection with Pink Friday 2. The unpaid-expense allegation is part of the underlying lawsuit, not a court finding.
The lawyers hired to defend Nicki Minaj say they want to withdraw because of what they describe in the court documents as “irreconcilable differences” regarding the “conduct of the representation.” Their request concerns the lawyer-client relationship in this case.
The firm says communication with Nicki Minaj has broken down and that it does not believe it can continue representing her. The lawyers also say they have tried to notify her of their decision but have had difficulty serving her with the notice.
According to the documents, a process server hired to deliver notice went to the building where Nicki Minaj lives in a million penthouse. The server claims the concierge said Nicki Minaj was not home, although her husband was there, and that the couple tended not to answer their phones.
