What is the NYT Connections Puzzle?
The New York Times‘ latest daily word game has quickly gained popularity on social media platforms. Associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu is credited with developing this engaging game, which has become a staple in the publication’s Games section. Connections is accessible via both web browsers and mobile applications, and players are tasked with grouping four words that share a common characteristic.

Each puzzle consists of 16 words, divided into four distinct categories. These categories may include anything from book titles to software names and country identities. Although many words may initially seem to fit together, only one specific answer exists for each grouping.
When a player successfully identifies all four words in a set, those words are removed from the board. Incorrect guesses count as mistakes, and players have a maximum of four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to help identify connections more easily. Each word group is color-coded, with yellow indicating the easiest level, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, players can share their results on social media platforms.
