Samsung’s Ultra-Thin Galaxy S25 Edge Phone Reveal Date

On May 12, prepare to witness the spectacular unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge as it takes center stage in a fully virtual Unpacked event. This innovative smartphone, which boasts an impressively slim profile, is set to redefine mobile technology with its design that is almost as thin as a USB-C charging port. The live streaming of this exciting reveal will commence at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, and you can catch all the action on Samsung’s official website or their official YouTube channel. However, don’t hold your breath for the new versions of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6, as those are anticipated to debut at a separate event later this summer.

The anticipation surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is palpable, especially after its initial showcase at the January Unpacked event. During that presentation, Samsung teased this remarkable device as the “one more thing,” but details remained sparse, primarily focusing on its astonishingly thin profile. The expected launch date in April did not come to fruition, and Samsung has yet to provide further insights into this smartphone. In an official statement, they described the S25 Edge as “more than a slim smartphone,” indicating it aims to “unlock a new era of growth for the mobile industry,” setting high expectations for its capabilities.

What exciting features can we anticipate beyond just the impressive thinness of the Galaxy S25 Edge? One of the major highlights is likely to be its camera system. Samsung has confirmed that this sleek device is equipped with a powerful 200-megapixel camera, potentially utilizing the same main sensor as that of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, it remains to be seen whether it will match the zoom capabilities of its predecessor. Early images suggest that the S25 Edge will feature two camera lenses, which is fewer than the three or five found on other Samsung Android smartphones. Samsung has previously touted the cameras of the S25 Edge as having “pro-grade capabilities,” suggesting access to their advanced suite of photo editing tools. Additionally, the device is likely to be equipped with AI technology, offering generative AI editing and creation tools similar to those available on current Galaxy models.

To truly captivate potential customers, Samsung must effectively articulate the unique advantages of choosing a super-slim phone. Speculations indicate that Apple is also preparing to unveil its own ultra-thin device, the iPhone 17 Air, which may feature an external battery case designed to compensate for its reportedly reduced battery capacity compared to the standard and pro iPhone models. Therefore, Samsung faces the challenge of demonstrating that users will not have to compromise significantly on performance or features in favor of a sleeker and lighter device.
