Tragic News: The Actor Who Passed Away in 1923
Cole Brings Plenty, who portrayed Pete Plenty Clouds in the series 1923, was found deceased in April 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri, at the young age of 27. His family had reported him missing just a month before, following a troubling domestic violence incident, according to reports from the Los Angeles Times. Unfortunately, the cause of his untimely death remains undisclosed, leaving many questions unanswered.
Following this tragic event, actor Jeremy Gauna stepped into the role of Pete Plenty Clouds. Gauna is also recognized for his performances in other Yellowstone spinoffs, such as 1883, as well as in projects including American Primeval, The Last Son, and The Harbinger. In a heartfelt conversation with the Los Angeles Times in 2025, Gauna shared that he and Plenty had developed a close friendship, initially connecting through social media.
“We would talk on a daily basis,” Gauna fondly recalled. “I would listen to his struggles and celebrate the joy he expressed about what was to come with 1923. He was genuinely thrilled about this role and couldn’t believe he would be featured in every episode. It’s incredibly hard to process what has transpired since then.”
Gauna also reflected on receiving the offer to take over Plenty’s role, describing it as “a very difficult call to receive, yet also bittersweet.”
“In honoring my dear friend and his family, I carry a profound responsibility,” Gauna stated, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring Plenty’s legacy is remembered. “I’m not pursuing accolades; my aim is solely to honor him and ensure that his memory lives on. I fully understand the significance of this role, and I feel that Cole has been with me throughout this entire journey.”
Is 1923 Set to Return for a Season 3?
In 2024, series star Brandon Sklenar informed The Hollywood Reporter that Season 2 of 1923 is anticipated to be its final season. “It’s a complete story. While it is still a limited series, I view it as one cohesive piece—there’s just a break in the middle, but it all ties together. It will come to a conclusion,” the actor expressed.
