Tesla recalls nearly 700,000 vehicles for tire pressure issue

In recent news, Tesla has announced another significant recall affecting nearly 700,000 vehicles, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This recall specifically highlights an issue with the warning light associated with the tire pressure monitoring system. This important notification underscores the ongoing challenges Tesla faces in maintaining vehicle safety and reliability.

The recall encompasses a range of models, including the highly anticipated 2024 Cybertruck, as well as the 2017-2025 Model 3 and 2020-2025 Model Y vehicles. According to the NHTSA, the critical warning light for the tire pressure monitoring system may fail to remain illuminated between vehicle drives, which can potentially lead to drivers being unaware of low tire pressure – a vital safety concern.

To address this issue, Tesla has announced that it will implement an over-the-road (OTR) update to rectify the warning light problem in all affected vehicles. Tesla plans to notify vehicle owners through letters, which are anticipated to be sent out by February 15, 2025. This proactive approach aims to ensure that all Tesla owners are informed and that their vehicles are updated to enhance safety.

Over the past year, Tesla has experienced a series of recalls and over-the-air updates. The NHTSA has documented multiple recalls for the Cybertruck addressing various issues, including prior concerns related to safety features and loose trunk beds. In June, Tesla rolled out an over-the-air update to correct issues affecting select 2021-2024 Model 3, S, and X vehicles, as well as the 2020-2024 Model Y, addressing problems where hoods could detach if not securely closed. These ongoing recalls highlight Tesla’s commitment to vehicle safety and their responsiveness to potential hazards.
