AMMAN — At least 62
percent of chats Jordanians posted on social media over a year, October 10,
2021 to October 10, 2022, were sad and angry, according to the marketing firm

Makana’s finding
was part of an analytical study whose findings were published to coincide with
the World Mental Health Day, observed on October 10.
The study reviewed
Jordanian posts and chats, including people’s interaction on issues like mental
health. Some 450,000 posts, including chats and discussions, were analyzed,
along with online interactions, such as likes, comments and shares.
Makana said it
found a 29 percent increase in discussions among Jordanians on social media in
the last six months over the first six months of the surveyed year.
Among the findings:
people’s reactions to social media posts jumped by 54 percent in the past six
months, and about 80 percent of the posts came from Jordanians under the age of
34.
Analyzing the
posts, including chats and discussions, Makana found 62 percent of them angry
and sad, and 24 percent happy and positive. It did not elaborate on the
remaining 14 percent.
