Published
Jay-Z has taken the reins as the primary decision-maker for halftime performances at the Super Bowl. He has reportedly chosen himself to headline this year’s monumental event.
Sources from Puck News indicate that Jay-Z deliberated for weeks about who should perform at this high-profile event. he concluded that he would be the ideal choice to take the stage.
Industry insiders have shared that Jay-Z’s decision to perform himself is viewed as a “more compelling” option compared to other potential artists like Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, who were also considered leading candidates for Super Bowl LXI. This exciting event is set to occur at SoFi Stadium on February 14, 2027.
Despite these reports, there has yet to be an official confirmation regarding the Super Bowl’s halftime show. TMZ has reached out to Roc Nation for clarification but has not received a response.
Back in 2019, Jay-Z’s Roc Nation secured a lucrative deal worth $5 million annually to oversee the halftime show. The company extended this agreement in 2024, ensuring its presence for an additional five years.
Jay-Z’s past halftime show selections have not been without controversy. The previous year’s choice, Bad Bunny, faced significant backlash due to his performance being exclusively in Spanish, leading some critics to express concerns about accessibility for English-speaking audiences.
This year’s choice appears to be a relief for the NFL, as Jay-Z essentially oversees the entire production. We have reached out to Roc Nation for further comments, but there has been no response yet.
As previously reported, Justin Bieber and Harry Styles were also on Roc Nation’s shortlist for potential performers.
Let the countdown to the Super Bowl begin. There are only 117 days until we witness Jay-Z take the stage.
