The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards is taking place tonight, celebrating the most prominent television stars and the most discussed shows from the past year.
As the night unfolds, The Pitt is poised to enhance its accolades with an impressive 25 nominations, spanning tonight’s ceremony and the Creative Arts Emmy awards that occurred earlier this month. Its nominations include Outstanding Drama Series, a lead acting nomination for Noah Wyle, and numerous supporting roles that ensure the hospital remains bustling.
Trailing closely is Hacks, which has achieved a record-setting 24 nominations in a single year for a comedy series. Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder are both back in the running, while the series also vies for awards in Outstanding Comedy Series, writing, and directing categories.
The path to the evening’s most prestigious awards remains competitive. The Pitt encounters formidable contenders in the drama series category, including Pluribus, The Gilded Age, and Slow Horses, to name a few. On the comedy side, Hacks faces off against a strong lineup featuring The Bear, Shrinking, and the newcomer Widow’s Bay.
The limited or anthology series category promises excitement as well, with nominees such as All Her Fault, The Beast in Me, Beef, DTF St. Louis, and Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette competing for the trophy.
