YouTube is testing a revamp of its Premium Lite subscription tier. Person made the rounds on social media this week, and as we speak a Google rep later confirmed to a number of different retailers that the plan is being examined in Australia, Germany and Thailand. This new model would have “restricted advertisements,” which the wonderful print describes as most movies being ad-free, “however you might even see video advertisements on music content material and Shorts, and non-interruptive advertisements while you search and browse.”
The unique Premium Lite subscription started in Europe in 2021, nevertheless it solely lasted a couple of years, with the video platform the choice in October 2023. The plan’s solely profit was eradicating all advertisements; it did not provide the offline or background viewing choices of the common Premium providing.
We have been capable of verify that the pricing mannequin in Australia is $9 a month for Premium Lite, in contrast with $17 a month for full Premium entry. That is according to the prices from the unique Lite, which have been about half the speed of an everyday plan. With the present prices of a YouTube subscription — for a person or for the household choice — having a mid-tier selection may actually be interesting.
