Voice Replies and Shorts Quiz Sticker Added by YouTube

YouTube has introduced an innovative quiz sticker for Shorts, enhancing viewer interaction by allowing content creators to engage their audience more effectively. This update also includes an expansion of voice replies for clips, offering another way for viewers to connect with creators.

With this new feature, YouTube empowers creators to engage their Shorts viewers through a customizable question sticker, which can be effortlessly integrated into their video clips to foster engagement and interaction.

As highlighted by YouTube:

“With this easy-to-use sticker, creators can quiz their audience and assess their understanding of specific concepts. This feature not only encourages engagement but can also inspire future content development. Whether it’s testing knowledge on a recent video topic, exploring a niche subject, or adding a competitive element to your channel, the potential is limitless.”

Creators will be able to track total response volume and analyze the percentage of viewers who selected each answer option, providing valuable insights into audience engagement.

This new feature could serve as an effective engagement tool, helping to build a sense of community among creators and their audience. Brands, too, can leverage this interactive element to enhance awareness of key product features among viewers.

YouTube is also expanding its voice replies feature to Android devices, following its initial rollout to select iOS creators in December of the previous year, allowing for more interactive responses.

YouTube audio replies

As illustrated in this example, voice replies enable creators to respond to comments with an audio clip. Creators who have access to this feature will see a sound wave icon when replying to a comment, allowing them to record a voice clip and post it as a response.

It is important to note that creators can also post a Short video clip as a reply as well, which adds a dynamic element to interactions. While this feature may not drastically change the engagement landscape, the addition of voice responses introduces a more personal touch, potentially enhancing the connection between creators and their audience.

YouTube has indicated that voice replies are currently available to a select group of testers on Android, with plans for broader availability in the near future.

If you’re part of the test group and wish to reply to a comment via voice, follow these steps: Open one of your videos in the YouTube app > Locate the comment you want to respond to > Tap ‘Reply’ > Select the sound wave icon > Record your voice reply > Post it as a comment. While the ability to use voice replies is limited to the testing group, all YouTube users can still engage with these comments.”

YouTube is also expanding access to its Shorts visual guide tools, which visually map out the location of UI buttons within the app. This enhancement helps creators avoid obscuring essential overlays and elements in their videos, thus improving the overall user experience.

This week, while there are a few smaller updates from YouTube, the introduction of the quiz sticker could prove to be a significant asset for many creators looking to enhance engagement and interactivity on their channels.
