Just a few weeks ago, the marketing campaign for VisionQuest officially launched. From the outset, it was clear that the series would explore the life of Paul Bettany’s android after the events of WandaVision. the miniseries has primarily focused on Vision’s internal struggles, particularly the haunting presence of Ultron in his mind. Alongside these psychological battles, there are formidable external adversaries for Vision to confront, with the promotional material below providing an intriguing glimpse of one such threat: Jocasta.
Jocasta, a character created by Jim Shooter and George Pérez, made her first appearance in 1977’s Avengers #162. Much like how Vision is viewed as Ultron’s offspring, Jocasta was constructed by Ultron to be his partner, utilizing the brain patterns of the Wasp as her template. (It’s worth remembering that in the comics, Ant-Man originally created Ultron using his own brain patterns.) Over the years, Jocasta has transitioned from a villain to an Avenger and has occasionally allied with Iron Man.
In VisionQuest, Jocasta makes her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portrayed by T’Nia Miller. The key question remains: how does she exist in the real world or within Vision’s mental landscape? This mystery is compounded by the timeline of Ultron’s creation, which in the MCU is attributed to Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. Viewers will need to tune in to the first two episodes, set to stream on Disney+ on October 14, to begin uncovering these answers, with subsequent episodes released weekly.
