YouTube is currently experimenting with an innovative feature known as “comment threading” specifically designed for YouTube Premium subscribers. This update aims to enhance user interaction and engagement, while the platform also introduces exciting new functionalities to its AI-driven “Dream Track” music feature.
To elaborate on the comment threading functionality, this new feature is intended to streamline the process of following discussions by linking replies directly to the original comment within a cohesive thread. This makes it significantly easier for users to engage with and track conversations in a more organized manner.
As illustrated in the accompanying image, when comment threading is activated, users will have the ability to tap on a comment to explore the entire conversation related to that specific reply, all presented within a single, user-friendly comment tree. This enhancement promises to enrich the interaction experience on the platform.
According to a statement from YouTube:
“Comment threading provides a more focused reading experience and helps users easily understand conversations. Click on the ‘X replies’ button under a comment and view threaded replies in the ‘Replies’ panel. Only available on iOS and Android.”
This feature simplifies the presentation of discussions, potentially encouraging more targeted and meaningful conversations within the comment sections. By organizing replies in a coherent manner, users may find it easier to engage in discussions that matter to them.

In addition to comment threading, YouTube is also trialing new improvements to its Dream Track initiative, which allows users to generate brief audio clips using AI based on text prompts provided by the user. This feature aims to creatively enhance the content creation process for users.
YouTube initially announced its collaboration with various musicians on the Dream Track project in 2023 and subsequently expanded its availability to all creators based in the U.S. last October, making this innovative tool more accessible.
Now, YouTube is set to refine the audio tracks generated by its AI, introducing additional features that will allow creators to customize their generated music even further. This move is expected to empower users to tailor their soundtracks more effectively to fit their unique creative visions.
“If you’re a creator in the experiment group, you may see new options and quality enhancements to the customized soundtracks you can create for your Shorts. These experimental features are rolling out to a select group of creators in the U.S.”
While specific details are still emerging, the Dream Track audio clips are primarily designed to offer creators a soundtrack option for their Shorts, drawing inspiration from popular music trends and genres to ensure relevancy and appeal.
