X has unveiled a new and improved livestream API, designed to empower third-party video platforms to seamlessly integrate X streams and enhance the management capabilities for X video broadcasts.
The company announced that this revamped livestream API has been completely restructured to provide enhanced features, allowing creators to schedule broadcasts, manage live chat interactions, and go live with a variety of streaming providers.
Key features include the ability to manage persistent RTMP streams, create and publish broadcasts, schedule future streams, read and respond to live chat, and moderate chat interactions with options for muting or removing participants.
This updated livestream API represents a significant advancement in promoting live video content within the app. It aims to boost user engagement, aligning perfectly with X’s commitment to fostering real-time discussions.
In July, X introduced an enhanced livestreaming command center within its Creator Studio platform, specifically designed to simplify the process of scheduling and executing live broadcasts on the app.
With the launch of this new livestream API, the platform is poised to experience a significant increase in video streams being integrated into the X ecosystem, which could lead to enhanced video engagement within the app.
