Amidst the excitement, chaos ensued as several youths allegedly attacked Jaden Pierre before an individual discharged a firearm, striking him in the chest around 6 p.m. local time on the basketball court. Emergency responders quickly transported him to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. According to amNewYork, Jaden’s family intends to hold a vigil in his memory at the park on Monday, April 20, with notable attendees including Attorney General Letitia James, Donovan Richards, and Jumaane Williams.

In their efforts to apprehend the alleged gunman, police have put up posters and released images of the individual sought in connection with the shooting. These images depict the suspect, who has short dreadlocks, dressed in a light gray printed tracksuit and carrying a black backpack.
