According to law enforcement sources, Ian Stanley Wagner was apprehended on Monday outside the UnitedHealthcare headquarters. He faces serious charges for allegedly making threats of violence, a situation that has raised significant concerns regarding safety and security at the corporate facility.

The FBI and officers from the Minnetonka Police Department reported that Wagner made contact with the FBI Minneapolis Field Office on Monday morning. During this communication, he allegedly “issued threats of violence directed at the UnitedHealthcare facility if specific demands were not met,” a situation that necessitated immediate intervention from law enforcement.
According to federal authorities, there is currently no evidence suggesting that Wagner had specific grievances against UnitedHealthcare. This statement is particularly noteworthy considering the tragic incident earlier this year where Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was fatally shot in New York City. Prosecutors allege that Luigi Mangione was responsible for that act of violence, raising concerns about ongoing safety within the company.
In response to the threats, an experienced crisis negotiator engaged in discussions with Wagner over the phone. Subsequently, FBI Task Force Officers, in collaboration with the Minnetonka Police, successfully facilitated his surrender and took him into custody without further incident, demonstrating the effectiveness of emergency response protocols.
As previously reported, Wagner claimed to possess a firearm and demanded $1 million, stating he would not be taken alive.
