Earlier at this time, Paramount Photos virtually opened up the floodgates, showering extraordinarily affected person and steadfast Sonic followers with the long-awaited Sonic the Hedgehog 3 trailer that includes Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog. However Sonic fandom is nothing if not fast on the uptake, particularly when combing each second of footage to concept craft Sonic 3, teasing the looks of one other foe, Steel Sonic.
Interspersed between the memes and fan artwork from at this time’s trailer is a prevailing fan concept that Sonic 3 will arrange Steel Sonic as the subsequent villain in a future movie or as the ultimate villain of the Blue Blur flick. Shortly after Reeves’ Shadow collectively arms Knuckles, Tails, and Sonic their beneficiant asses in hand-to-hand fight, Sonic floats the concept that they’ll have to enlist the assistance of Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik to defeat him.

A seemingly innocuous scene follows, by which Robotnik initiates a quid professional quo, main Sonic to provide him one in all his super-powered quills. Whereas the trailer glosses over the scene to get again to Shadow doing the Akira slide, followers doubled again to theory-craft the scene, resulting in the creation of Steel Sonic.
Steel Sonic, who first appeared on Sonic the Hedgehog CD in 1993, is an evil robotic model of Sonic that Dr. Robotnik invented to defeat the titular hero. Within the 1999 Sonic the Hedgehog anime movie, Dr. Robotnik created Steel Sonic by copying his skills, thought course of, and persona into the mechanical being.
Whereas the technical mumbo-jumbo of Steel Sonic being able to copying no matter Sonic is considering is an odd phenomenon within the anime, it stands inside purpose that Dr. Robotnik would betray Sonic—as he’s wont to do—to make use of his quill to make Steel Sonic in a post-credit scene teasing a fourth Sonic movie.
Both that or Sonic 3 will go full Godzilla vs. Kong and recontextualize Shadow using a bike alongside Sonic as they be a part of forces to defeat Mechagodzilla—I imply Steel Sonic. Both manner, followers are happy as a peach to see the brand new Sonic trailer and can pack theaters to witness this all unfold (or not) come December 20.
Together with Keanu Reeves, the forged for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 consists of Jessica Jones‘ Krysten Ritter, Ted Lasso‘s Cristo Fernández, Lonely Island’s Jorma Taccone, Furiosa‘s Alyla Browne, Harley Quinn‘s James Wolk, and Jane the Virgin‘s Sofia Pernas—in addition to the returning Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik and Ben Schwartz as Sonic.
