Smokey Robinson‘s legal team vehemently asserts that the sexual assault lawsuit launched by four former housekeepers is riddled with untruths and is fundamentally an attempt to extort money from the iconic Motown artist. The allegations, they argue, are nothing but a desperate ploy to tarnish his legacy and reputation, aiming to exploit his status and wealth.

In a statement to TMZ, Robinson’s attorney, Christopher Frost, emphasized that as the legal proceedings advance, the evidence will reveal that these claims are nothing more than a malicious tactic aimed at extracting a staggering $50 million from an 85-year-old American cultural icon. This case, he insists, is an ugly manifestation of opportunism, targeting a legendary figure in the music industry.

Frost also criticized the plaintiffs and their legal representatives, stating, “Throughout this process, we have witnessed the strange theatrics displayed during yesterday’s press conference, where the plaintiffs’ attorneys concocted grotesque and unfounded allegations against Mr. and Mrs. Robinson. This is an attempt to draw the public into a media frenzy that they are orchestrating, which is nothing short of manipulative.” He believes that this public display is more about sensationalism than justice.

As reported, the accusers, who have filed under pseudonyms as Jane Does, allege that Smokey Robinson raped them multiple times during their employment. Furthermore, they are also pursuing legal action against his long-time spouse, Frances Gladney Robinson, claiming she was aware of his alleged misconduct and failed to take any action to safeguard the well-being of the employees who worked for him.

Frost stated that Smokey Robinson himself is prepared to address these allegations in his own words. Additionally, they plan to file a motion to dismiss the lawsuit while tackling “numerous aspects” of the claims that seem implausible, including discrepancies in timelines, inconsistencies in the accounts of the plaintiffs, and their relationships with others involved in this case.
