Tesla claims to have reached a “conditional” settlement agreement with Rivian and is optimistic about filing for the dismissal of the ongoing case by December 24. The lawsuit, which was initiated in 2020, accused Rivian of actively encouraging former Tesla employees to abscond with valuable proprietary information. Tesla specifically noted that they had evidence of three employees unlawfully taking what they described as “highly valuable, confidential information” as they transitioned to Rivian. In response, Rivian has consistently denied these claims, labeling them as nothing more than baseless allegations.
In a significant twist, Rivian had previously sought to have the lawsuit dismissed entirely. However, a judge ruled earlier this year that Rivian would indeed need to stand trial, which was initially anticipated to occur in 2025. Now, with recent developments suggesting a potential settlement, it appears that this contentious matter may be resolved well before the scheduled trial date, potentially bringing closure to a protracted dispute without the need for a court appearance.
