Fans Celebrate Taylor Swift’s Historic Music Ownership and the Hilarious Reactions to “Fame (Taylor’s Version)”
The past Taylor cannot take your call right now. Why, you ask? Because she has officially regained ownership of all her music catalog, a significant milestone that has fans buzzing with excitement.
And indeed, Swifties are absolutely losing their minds over this monumental news.
Taylor Swift made waves on social media Friday morning when she announced that she successfully purchased back her masters, a significant achievement after Scooter Braun controversially acquired her catalog from her former label, Big Machine Label Group, in 2019, and later sold it to Shamrock Capital in 2020.
On that fateful Friday, the superstar shared a heartfelt series of photographs showcasing herself surrounded by the vinyl records of her first six albums, which she now proudly owns again: Taylor Swift (2006), Fearless (2008), Speak Now (2010), Red (2012), 1989 (2014), and Reputation (2017).
“You belong with me. 💚💛💜❤️🩵🖤 Check out the letter on my website :).”

In a detailed letter posted on her website, Swift, now 35, shared this thrilling news with her fans.
“Hello. I’m trying to articulate my thoughts into something coherent, but at this moment, my mind is merely a slideshow. It’s a flashback sequence of all the times I daydreamed about, wished for, and longed for the opportunity to share this news with you. All those moments when I was thiiiiiiiiiiiiis close, reaching out for it, only for it to slip away,” she expressed. “I nearly stopped believing it would ever happen after 20 years of having the carrot dangled in front of me and then yanked away. But that’s all in the past now.”
“Since I learned that this is truly happening, I’ve been bursting into tears of joy at random moments,” she continued. “I can finally say these words: All the music I’ve ever created… now belongs… to me. This includes all my music videos, concert films, album artwork, photographs, unreleased songs, memories, magic, and chaos. Every single era. My entire life’s work.”
“To say that this is my biggest dream come true is an understatement,” she added. “To my fans, you know how significant this has been for me—so much so that I painstakingly re-recorded and released four of my albums, calling them Taylor’s Version. The passionate support you showed for these albums and the success story you turned The Eras Tour into is precisely why I was able to reclaim my music. I cannot thank you enough for helping me reunite with this body of work that I’ve dedicated my life to, but never owned until now.”

Swift reportedly acquired her masters back from Shamrock Capital for a staggering $360 million, as reported by Billboard. As for the credit for the deal, TMZ sources dismissed claims that Braun was “encouraging” the financial firm to sell.
“Credit goes solely to the team at Shamrock Capital and Taylor’s Nashville-based management,” the source informed the outlet. “She owns her music in spite of Scooter Braun, not because of him.”
Celebration Erupts Among Swifties
Following the announcement that Swift is now the official owner of her music catalog, her devoted fans—Swifties—predictably went wild on social media, particularly on X, formerly known as Twitter, celebrating the Grammy winner’s achievement. They shared humorous posts, memes, and videos in response.
Many fans expressed their joy, stating they no longer feel guilty about streaming the original albums now that Swift has rightful ownership.
“TAYLOR SWIFT OWNS HER MASTERS I REPEAT TAYLOR SWIFT OWNS HER MASTERS,” a fan exclaimed, sharing a painting depicting Paul Revere shouting, “the British are coming!”
“WE CAN LISTEN TO THE ORIGINAL TAYLOR SWIFT ALBUMS AGAIN,” another user chimed in, sharing a photo of the iconic Nicole Kidman divorce meme.
“I’m so thrilled for Taylor Swift! She owns it all!!!!!! I can now revisit and listen to all of her original albums without feeling guilty 😭 TODAY IS A GREAT DAY!!!!!,” a Swiftie shared alongside a viral video of Drew Barrymore smiling in the rain.

Swifties React to the Uncertainty Over “Fame (Taylor’s Version)” Status
However, not all Swifties were celebrating the singer’s triumphant announcement as she also revealed the uncertain fate of the highly anticipated Fame (Taylor’s Version).
“I know, I know. What about Reputation TV? To be fully transparent: I haven’t even re-recorded a quarter of it,” Swift mentioned in her letter. “The Fame album holds a unique place in my heart from that period of my life, and I kept hitting a wall every time I tried to recreate it. All that defiance, that yearning to be understood while feeling purposely misunderstood, that desperate hope, that shame-born snarl and mischief.”
“To be completely honest, it’s the only album among these first six that I believed could not be improved upon by redoing it. Not the music, not the photos, not the videos,” she continued. “So I kept putting it off. There may be a time (if you’re interested) for the unreleased vault tracks from that album to see the light of day.”
Swift did confirm that she has “completely re-recorded” Taylor Swift, her debut album.
“I genuinely love how it sounds now. These two albums can still have their moments to re-emerge when the timing feels right, if that’s something you all would be excited about,” she mentioned. “But if it happens, it won’t be from a place of disappointment or longing for what I wish I could have. It’ll just be a celebration now.”
Fans—especially those who had been “clowning” for a Reputation TV announcement for months, or even years—quickly took to X to express their reactions to the news that the re-recorded album is far from complete and may never come to fruition.
Swifties shared humorous posts, poking fun at themselves for waiting on an announcement that was never going to come.
“Rep television clowns now you can rest,” one popular post read.
“Rep television was the friends we made along the way,” a user humorously noted alongside a video of a girl laughing.
“You all begged so hard for Rep television she unannounced it,” a fan joked, while another added, “the fact that Rep television isn’t coming is the funniest thing to ever happen in the fandom.”
“Rep OG: there will be no explanation there will just be Reputation. Rep television: there will be no Reputation there will just be explanation,” another user quipped.

Rep television not actually happening is so funny since you listen through Reputation once and it’s like, well clearly they can’t do any of this again.
