Transformers x Knight Rider. Kamala Harris x The Simpsons. Robert Downey Jr. x Marvel, however once more and completely different and manner weirder this time. It’s been a yr of crossovers at San Diego Comedian-Con, however one which’s, maybe suitably paradoxically, each not occurring but and already occurring is Physician Who and Star Trek, because of a pleasant panel on the con celebrating the 2 exhibits.
The “Intergalactic Friendship Panel”–bringing collectively Physician Who showrunner Russell T Davies and Star Trek architect Alex Kurtzman–raised eyebrows when it was first introduced forward of San Diego Comedian-Con. After Ncuti Gatwa’s debut season of Physician Who casually slid in an acknowledgement from the Physician that Star Trek is actual in his universe, and he and his companion Ruby ought to go go to them some day, there was loads of buzz of a possible on-screen team-up. That day, it appears, remains to be far off, official panel or in any other case.
“We’re not asserting something, but when followers could make it occur,” Davies teased through the panel (by way of TrekCore), “With our two empires and their attorneys, then we’ll do it!”

One crossover did get introduced–an in-game occasion for the Decrease Decks and Physician Who cellular video games The Badgey Directive and Misplaced In Time. However for essentially the most half, the panel was principally for Kurtzman and Davies to wax lyrical about how Physician Who and Star Trek encourage one another, and their respective showrunners in flip. One enjoyable query did come up: if there was no official crossover but, what episodes of every others’ sequence would Kurtzman and Davies wish to write?
The Star Trek mastermind hedged on his personal reply (“We couldn’t afford you,” cried Davies), however Physician Who‘s showrunner leapt at one alternative particularly. “Borg, Borg, Borg! I like the Borg!”
Even being advised by Kurtzman that the Borg are just about completed for in Trek in the intervening time–largely because of Star Trek: Picard‘s one-two punch of an allied fragment of the Collective on the climax of season 2, after which by re-blowing-up the Borg queen once more on the finish of season 3–wouldn’t cease Davies. “There’s all the time a manner,” Davies added. “The Daleks maintain coming again!”
Attempt to not be too shocked then, if the Cybermen make one other comeback in Physician Who‘s subsequent season. In spite of everything, in case you can’t do it formally but, why not go for the cyborg villains you have already got at dwelling?
