MGM+ is reimagining the classic tale A Tale of Two Cities with an exciting four-part limited series. Featuring a stellar cast, including Game of Thrones veteran Kit Harington, the highly anticipated show premieres this September.
Set against the backdrop of 18th century London amid the intense conflict between France and Britain, the series introduces viewers to Lucie Manette (Mirren Mack). According to MGM+’s official synopsis, Lucie’s world is turned upside down when she receives a message from Paris — her father, presumed dead for nearly two decades, might still be alive.
The message comes from Charles Darnay (François Civil), an idealistic French emigré who finds himself arrested on charges of treason. Lucie seeks the aid of a brilliant yet unpredictable young lawyer, Sydney Carton (Harington), to secure Darnay’s freedom, hoping that this will lead her to uncover the truth about her father. The intertwining lives of Lucie, Darnay, and Carton create a captivating and complex love triangle.
The stakes are heightened as both Charles and Sydney strive to win Lucie’s affection, leaving her in a difficult position as she grapples with her feelings.
