The highly anticipated Galaxy S25 Edge, which Samsung teased at the conclusion of its January Unpacked event, has now been officially unveiled. During the latest Unpacked event, we received comprehensive specifications, pricing details, and shipping timelines for Samsung’s latest smartphone, along with the opportunity to experience the device firsthand. This new handset promises to redefine what users expect from a premium smartphone in terms of design and functionality.
The pricing for the Galaxy S25 Edge is set at $1,100 for the 256GB storage variant and $1,220 for the 512GB model, with shipping scheduled for May 30. Pre-orders are currently available at major retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, and directly from Samsung. Additionally, Samsung is offering a pre-order incentive of $50 store credit and a complimentary upgrade to the 512GB model, making it an attractive option for early adopters.
The Galaxy S25 Edge boasts impressive features, including its sleek and slender design as well as its AI-enhanced photography capabilities. These features have been anticipated based on several leaks, which were recently confirmed by Samsung’s official press release. When Engadget‘s own Mat Smith had the opportunity to handle the Edge, he immediately recognized its lightness while also noting that it retained a premium feel, highlighting the successful engineering behind its design.
Confirmed specifications reveal that the Galaxy S25 Edge features a 6.7-inch display while maintaining an impressively thin profile of just 5.8mm (0.22 inches). Although this is slightly less screen area compared to the 6.9-inch Ultra model, it is a remarkable 2.4mm slimmer. Weighing in at 163 grams, it is almost identical to the standard Galaxy S25, yet the Edge measures over 10mm taller and 5mm wider than its base model counterpart, making it a standout in terms of dimensions.
In order to achieve this reduced weight and width, Samsung has engineered a wider yet thinner vapor chamber combined with a new Thermal Interface Material (TIM) that significantly enhances heat dissipation. The front display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, a first for smartphones, which Corning claims provides “enhanced drop performance on rough surfaces,” enabling a thinner glass layer without compromising durability. The frame is constructed from titanium, similar to the Ultra model, a material favored by many leading smartphone manufacturers for its lightweight yet robust properties.
Regarding camera technology, the Edge is equipped with the same 200MP sensor found in the S25 Ultra, which Samsung asserts delivers images that are 40 percent brighter in low-light conditions compared to the standard S25. Additionally, the phone features a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 12MP front-facing camera for selfies. Although the two rear cameras protrude slightly from the slim profile, Mat noted that the Edge feels well-balanced in hand, ensuring it does not feel lopsided during use.
The device is also packed with an array of AI-driven features like Pro Scaler, Audio Eraser, and Drawing Assist. To power these advanced features, Samsung has utilized the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip found in the other models of the S25 series, equipped with 12GB of RAM and storage options of either 256GB or 512GB. The phone is powered by a 3,900mAh battery, which is smaller than the 4,000mAh battery of the standard S25 and the 5,000mAh unit in the Ultra. Nevertheless, Samsung claims that the Edge can provide up to 24 hours of usage on a single charge, appealing to users who prioritize battery life.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is available in an attractive selection of three color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icy Blue. Furthermore, Samsung is committed to providing seven years of security and software updates for this device, ensuring longevity and security for its users. While we have only had a brief experience with the device so far, a more detailed review will be available shortly to provide further insights into its capabilities and performance.
