Above the years, the Star Wars saga has been taken beneath the knife and chopped and edited—for higher or worse—many conditions, even previous the One of a kind Editions of the ‘90s. And but a single specific of the weirdest tweaks is even now 1 of the most new: the strange rally cry of “maclunkey!” when Greedo goes to shoot Han Solo in A New Hope.
Sorry, genuinely that is “Ma Klounkee,” formally speaking—a romanization of Greedo’s Rodese that has popped up a many occasions simply because the notorious 2019 addition, most notably in the 2022 Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, specifically exactly where it was utilized as portion of the amazingly titled aspect mission “Ma Klounkee Most Foul.” But somehow, Ma Klounkee has returned. Nicely, not genuinely somehow: it is back quite a few thanks to the subsequent set for the a quick although ago-released Star Wars collectible card video game, Limitless.
Shadows of the Galaxy is set to launch this July, pulling Endless absent from the Rebels and Galactic Empire to emphasis on the globe of bounty hunters, smugglers, and a lot much more seedy criminals out on the galaxy’s edge. Regardless of the putting, obtaining mentioned that, incredibly poor Greedo just can not catch a crack: he appeared in Unrestricted’s base established, Spark of Revolt, as a device card practically cruelly titled “Greedo, Gradual on the Attract” in reference to his ill-fated attempt to offer in Han. But now, as revealed this week, he’ll show up in Shadows of the Galaxy on a card only titled “Ma Klounkee.”
It is a enjoyable card, thematically, inquiring you to trade a single specific of your energetic Underworld models in play, sending it back once again to your hand, in trade for dealing hurt to an enemy 1. It is also just hilarious. Essentially naming it Ma Klounkee is absurd ample, but just appear at that card artwork! Greedo does not even get to appear fascinating, he’s truly milliseconds from catching Han’s blaster bolt appropriate in his chest. Even in celebrating his infamy, Limitless, like most Star Wars lovers, just can not allow but dunk on the undesirable guy.
