Reports indicate that the altercation occurred on the morning of May 21, as families gathered for the graduation ceremony. Tensions rose as parents began to occupy seats within the school’s viewing area. Disputes over seating arrangements and personal space quickly escalated in front of attendees, prompting police intervention shortly after 8:45 a.m. following multiple reports of disturbances involving several adults.
A 26-year-old individual was transported to the hospital for treatment following the confrontation. Meanwhile, police apprehended 28-year-old Jessica Anderson at the scene, charging her with felonious assault. According to court documents obtained by local news outlets, Anderson allegedly intensified the conflict by pulling a person’s hair and forcefully slamming their head into a chair. This violent act reportedly resulted in the victim requiring stitches. Authorities booked Anderson just before noon on the same day while attempting to restore order to the chaotic scene.

Footage shared with reporters depicted multiple adults shoving, hitting, and tumbling over chairs in the crowded viewing area, while others tried to intervene and separate the fighting parties. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, as families settled in, with tensions quickly escalating beyond mere verbal exchanges.
Parent Craig Mays told WTVG that the altercation began when one family rearranged seating and claimed additional space, provoking frustration from others who felt their view was obstructed. He recounted how the situation transformed from a verbal disagreement into outright physical violence, claiming he was “sucker punched” before being assaulted by several individuals once he fell to the ground.

Mays also revealed that his wife sustained serious injuries during the incident and required emergency room treatment. Her injuries included staples to her head as well as damage to her wrist and knees. Queens of the Apostles School later issued a statement expressing gratitude to the Toledo Police Department for their prompt response, confirming that all students were unharmed. Although the school proceeded with the remainder of the day’s activities, the graduation ceremony was canceled. Officials have yet to announce any plans for rescheduling.
