Sigma Unveils the Innovative BF: A 24.6-Megapixel Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera with Built-in SSD
Sigma has introduced the groundbreaking BF camera, featuring a remarkable 24.6-megapixel full-frame sensor and an integrated SSD storage solution, eliminating the need for traditional CFexpress or SD card slots. Renowned for its expertise in crafting high-quality lenses and unique cameras, Sigma’s BF epitomizes its commitment to innovation and design. This camera showcases a distinct aesthetic and a forward-thinking approach to storage, making it a standout in the mirrorless camera market.
Constructed from a single block of aluminum, the Sigma BF boasts a robust and minimalist design characterized by flat, angular edges that prioritize a unique visual appeal over conventional ergonomics. While it may not fit comfortably in every hand, the thoughtful inclusion of a thumb rest on the back enhances usability. The camera’s minimalist philosophy extends to its body, which features no extraneous text, maintaining a clean aesthetic. The back of the BF is equipped with a high-resolution display, a pill-shaped status monitor to indicate settings adjustments, a navigation dial, an option button, a power button, and a playback button. The top of the camera is even more streamlined, housing only two microphones and a shutter button.
The Sigma BF is fully compatible with L-mount lenses and offers impressive functionality, including the ability to capture stunning 6K video and support for HEVC encoding. This advanced camera can record video at an impressive rate of up to 120 frames per second, making it ideal for high-speed action shots. The built-in 230GB SSD is capable of storing an impressive amount of content—over 14,000 JPEG files, approximately 4,300 uncompressed RAW images, or up to 2.5 hours of high-quality video. In addition, the BF offers an array of customizable color modes, allowing photographers to adjust the aesthetic of their images with options such as standard, rich, and color-specific settings like powder blue, forest green, and sunset red.
While the specifications of the Sigma BF are certainly impressive, potential buyers should be prepared to invest in this unique piece of technology. According to PetaPixel, the body-only price of the Sigma BF will be set at $1,999 upon its release in April 2025, and it will be available in classic black and sleek silver options.
