Blockstar Discusses the Apology He Owes to Pop Smoke’s Mother
In a recent interview with XVTV, Blockstar opened up about an apology he never had the opportunity to deliver. He specifically mentioned Pop Smoke’s mother, Audrey Jackson, saying, “I’ll say an apology I never got to give was to Pop Smoke’s mom,” admitting he never truly expressed his remorse to Jackson. He recognized that an apology wouldn’t alter the past and that she might not want to hear from him at all.
Blockstar emphasized that the situation was never personal, clarifying that Pop Smoke was not his adversary and that the robbery was intended to be financially motivated. Nevertheless, the tragic circumstances surrounding the Brooklyn rapper’s death in February 2020 are a painful chapter in his legacy.
Blockstar Reflects on the Impact of Pop Smoke’s Death
At the time of the home invasion at the Hollywood Hills residence where Pop was staying, Blockstar was just 17 years old. He later pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and home invasion robbery, resulting in a juvenile sentence of four years and two months. Another juvenile involved ultimately confessed to shooting the rapper.
Years after this devastating event, Blockstar is acknowledging the one discussion he wishes he could have had with Jackson. Although he believes an apology would not change the past, his statements have reignited conversations about the profound loss and its lasting effects on those left behind.
Blockstar’s Previous Remarks Resurface Alongside His Apology
Roomies, the stark contrast between Blockstar’s earlier statements and his recent reflections has led many to revisit his comments about Pop Smoke’s death from two years ago. During a ‘No Jumper’ interview with Adam22 shortly after his release, Blockstar claimed, “I’m not sorry about nothing,” while expressing a wish that the tragedy had never occurred. He insisted he had no regrets, despite offering condolences to Pop Smoke’s family.
At that time, Audrey Jackson, Pop Smoke’s mother, responded to the attention surrounding Blockstar’s remarks, stating that she avoided dwelling on what she found disrespectful, as it would only consume her energy. Now, Blockstar acknowledges that one apology he regrets not making was to Jackson, recognizing that an expression of sorrow would not change the outcome.
