Vonshae surprised ‘Love & Hip Hop: Miami’ fans with her first video appearance in a long time. She became a favorite in the ‘LHH’ franchise after several seasons that highlighted her tumultuous relationship and subsequent marriage to Gunplay. Their divorce was put on hold in 2023, and its status remains uncertain. However, the main discussion surrounding her recent update has focused less on her ex-husband or their co-parenting and more on her changed physical appearance, including noticeable weight gain. Vonshae Shares GoFundMe After Severe Car Accident
Two days ago, Vonshae organized a GoFundMe fundraiser with a $40,000 goal. She explained that she was in a near-fatal car accident on Nov. 2, but didn’t specify whether the year was 2024 or 2025. Taylor-Morales did say at the end that she’s accumulated “massive medical bills” while being unable to work for over a year and a half. Vonshae also explained that medics pronounced her dead, but she later recovered in the intensive care unit.
“I was pronounced dead on the scene. Paramedics were able to bring my pulse back. I sustained 16 facial fractures, 4 jaw fractures, and 2 skull fractures. I underwent 3 brain surgeries and 2 stomach surgeries,” Vonshae’s fundraiser states.
Also, according to the ‘LHH’ alum, doctors informed her parents to prepare for a funeral. Then, one day she started moving. Despite doubts she’d be able to walk, talk, or feed herself again, she eventually did.
“One of the biggest lessons I learned is God always has the final say. He protected me and now is helping guide me on this long road of recovery,” Vonshae wrote.
‘LHH Miami’ Alum Explains Weight Gain Amid Recovery
In the video Vonshae shared, she stated that a driver t-boned her off the highway. The impact caused her car to hit a light pole and spin into another highway pole. Again, she mentioned that she died on the scene and paramedics had to revive her. This led to over a year in the ICU. Touching her face, Vonshae noted it’s “still fat” following her multiple facial, skull, and jaw fractures.
“That car wreck was horrible. I’m not comfortable with driving yet, so I am a passenger princess, and even riding in the car can be stressful. Sometimes we’ll hit a bump or a pothole, and I’ll freak out.”
More than a year later, Vonshae Taylor-Morales said she’s taking 36 pills a day, with at least one contributing to weight gain due to increased appetite. Being bedridden while needing to eat has also affected her weight. “I gained a lot of weight. I was 250, I’m 212 now,” Vonshae said, admitting that she appreciates the extra weight in areas like her thighs and buttocks. She also shared that she has suffered from Lupus since her teenage years. Additionally, she mentioned that her sight is still “a little bit off” after windshield glass ended up in her left eye. She will soon find out if she needs eye surgery.
V Says She Will Never Get Back Together With Gunplay
While fans focused on her accident and recovery, others still had questions about her estranged or ex-husband, Gunplay. In September 2023, Vonshae informed her social media followers that she had filed for divorce, but the rapper refused to sign the papers. With their marriage based in Florida, she claimed that certain laws prevented her from divorcing without his permission.
The month prior, he had been arrested on aggravated battery charges, false imprisonment, and child abuse without great bodily harm, according to Complex. He allegedly pointed an AK-47 gun at Vonshae Taylor-Morales and their six-month-old child. She later obtained a restraining order and filed for divorce. In her latest video update, Vonshae made it clear that she will never romantically reconcile with Gunplay.
“I will never, and I mean never, get back together with Gunplay. I don’t care if you paid me…the actions he’s taken, violating our restraining order repeatedly, and the things he’s said online about me and my family, along with the rumors that he had a part in this accident, I would never.”
Gunplay has not publicly commented on his estranged wife’s near-fatal accident.
