GOG has expanded its preservation program by adding two iconic titles. The original versions of Metro 2033, released in 2010, and Metro: Last Light Complete Edition, launched in 2013, are now available for purchase on the platform. While remastered editions of both titles were introduced in 2014 and are still accessible, developer 4A Games acknowledged the demand from players wishing to experience the original iterations of these beloved survival shooter games.
The developers have updated both games to ensure compatibility with modern PCs, specifically optimizing them for Windows 10 and Windows 11. This includes enhancements for a broader range of screen resolutions and improved framerates. They have also implemented support for various controllers, enhancing the gaming experience.
Despite these upgrades, fans can acquire Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light Complete Edition at an attractive price. Both games are currently discounted by 70 percent until May 28, allowing players to purchase them for only $3.09 each. True to GOG’s philosophy, these titles are entirely DRM-free.
This offers an excellent opportunity for newcomers to the series to explore how the first two games were originally designed and functioned before the release of the anticipated sequel. 4A Games has recently unveiled that sequel, titled Metro 2039, which is slated for release this winter.
