A representative for Bijou confirmed to TMZ that she is receiving care at UCLA Health. She has resumed dialysis while awaiting a living donor.
In 2017, Bijou received her first kidney transplant from a friend. Unfortunately, that kidney has now failed, necessitating another transplant.
Her representative indicated that since the first transplant, Bijou has faced numerous complications including the BK virus. This led to both cellular and antibody rejection of the transplanted organ.
Bijou is reported to be in stable condition; however, her representative emphasized that “time is of the essence.”
The actress was born with underdeveloped kidneys and spent her initial three months in NICU on dialysis. She has been battling kidney disease throughout her life.
