Kia’s EV3: The Most Affordable Electric Vehicle in Its Lineup
Kia has officially revealed the pricing for the EV3 in the United States, marking it as the compact variant of the popular EV9 SUV. The starting price is set at $29,450, with an additional $1,495 for destination charges. Even when considering this fee, the total comes to $30,945, significantly below the $35,000 price point that Kia initially aimed for when announcing the EV3’s US launch in April.
The EV3 boasts an impressive all-electric range of up to 321 miles and offers both front-wheel and all-wheel drive options. Its design incorporates elements from the EV9 while maintaining a size comparable to Kia’s Niro crossover. This modern electric vehicle features an NACS port, allowing compatibility with Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network. Kia claims that with a 350kW DC fast charger, the EV3 can recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 31 minutes.
With this new pricing, the EV3 stands as the most affordable electric car in Kia’s lineup, especially amidst the challenges of finding budget-friendly EVs in the current US market. Following the rollback of Biden-era tax credits by the Trump administration in July 2025, numerous automakers have either discontinued certain EV models or abandoned their electric vehicle plans altogether. The Kia EV3 remains one of the few vehicles, alongside the Slate Truck, capable of achieving a price below $30,000.
The landscape for affordable electric vehicles is expected to expand soon. In early August, Ford announced that its forthcoming “Fathom” EV truck will retail for $28,350, with expected deliveries in early 2027. financial incentives for purchasing electric vehicles are making a comeback. In July, California introduced a new rebate program that provides first-time buyers with a $3,500 instant rebate on new electric vehicles and a $1,500 instant rebate on used electric vehicles.
