Televangelist Jim Bakker Son Jay’s Absence at the Funeral
Published
Televangelist Jim Bakker was laid to rest on Monday, but his son, Jay, did not attend the funeral.
Jay, who is also a pastor, shared a heartfelt video on Instagram that was played during his father’s memorial service. In the video, he discussed their “complicated relationship” and explained the reasons behind his absence.
Jay shared that he had the opportunity to spend time with his father before his passing, allowing them to have meaningful conversations.
He clarified that this is the reason for his absence from the funeral. He felt he had already said his goodbyes in person.
Jay, whose mother was the notable televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker, expressed gratitude to the supporters of his family in his Instagram post, stating, “Those of you who have stood up for me and my family during this tough time by encouraging others to allow us to process this loss have been invaluable.”
He further stated, “It’s a very challenging perspective for some to understand, and I recognize the difficulty in sympathizing, let alone caring deeply.”
As previously reported, Jim Bakker was in hospice care in Missouri when he died last week. The cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
