A recent video shared on The White House‘s official social media platforms has sparked significant controversy, as a questionable audio selection transformed a grave message into a spectacle. This has led many internet users to demand clarification, with some labeling it as one of the most tactless posts ever made.

The White House Uses Jet2 Holidays Jingle in Controversial ICE Deportation Video

The White House is facing intense backlash after releasing a video highlighting ICE deportation flights, accompanied by the upbeat audio from Jet2 Holidays. Yes, the same cheerful voiceover proclaiming, “Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday,” which typically features in TikToks about mishaps like missed flights or lost luggage, was overlaid on footage showing handcuffed individuals being escorted onto planes. To add to the absurdity, the official caption read: “When ICE books you a one-way Jet2 holiday to deportation. Nothing beats it!” It’s quite astonishing, to say the least.

Public Reaction: Social Media Users Express Outrage

Social media users quickly flooded the comment section on the White House’s X account, with many questioning whether the post originated from their official account. Others expressed disbelief at the juxtaposition of a cheerful vacation song with a video about deportations. A consensus emerged among viewers, labeling the video as incredibly insensitive and trivializing a serious, traumatic experience faced by many individuals and families.

One user on X, @kate_ross_ remarked, “[Jet2] are you okay with this?

Additionally, another X user, @TheMisterFrog commented, “what on earth, White House?

In the midst of this, X user @ladidai added, “This is incredibly embarrassing for this account to handle this 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫”

Another user, @WINRProtocol expressed, “There’s no way they used the Jet2 sound”

In another instance, X user @isthisdame remarked, “I thought this was a parody account..

Jess Glynne & Jet2 Company Respond to Controversy

Jess Glynne is not pleased with the White House for using her song ‘Hold My Hand’ in a video that promotes ICE deportations. She expressed that the entire situation makes her feel “sick.” Furthermore, Zoe Lister, the voiceover actress from the original advertisement, voiced her discontent, stating she would “never condone” her voice being used to endorse what she termed “Trump and his reprehensible policies.
“The Jet2 meme has spread considerable joy and humor worldwide, but the White House video illustrates that Trump possesses neither,” stated Jess Glynne, as reported by the BBC.

“Our branding has become a viral sensation this summer, and we are thrilled to see how many people have embraced it with humor. This has undoubtedly brought smiles to many faces, just like our holidays do. We are, of course, aware of the post from the White House social media account. However, this does not represent our endorsement in any way, and we are profoundly disappointed to see our brand being utilized to promote governmental policies like this.”
