X has made significant advancements in enabling financial transactions within its app by introducing the capability to trade stocks and cryptocurrencies directly in-stream.
X’s Cashtag Partner Program, now operational in the U.S., enhances X’s existing cashtag features to support trading activities arising from discussions within the app.
In April, X introduced its enhanced Cashtags feature, which connects market data to stock code listings.

This Cashtag Partner Program builds upon that functionality. Users can now click on these listings to buy or trade stocks by linking to their accounts on partner trading platforms.
According to X: “At launch, X users can tap through Cashtags to brokerage partners, including Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken, and Coinbase.”
This integration will create a more direct link between X interactions and market activities, offering valuable opportunities for users looking to act on the latest news and trends.
As emphasized, this initiative is another stride towards realizing X owner Elon Musk’s vision of an “everything app,” where users can conduct all types of financial transactions seamlessly within the platform.
X already supports payments in the U.S., making it a foundational tool for financial services, so adding stock trading further enriches its offerings.
Musk envisions that, eventually, X could become a replacement for traditional banks as users’ primary financial partner, but the level of trust users will place in X for such services remains uncertain.
