Actress Melissa Barrera was initially slated to join the cast after being personally invited by Boots, following her departure from the Scream franchise. she ultimately had to decline due to scheduling conflicts, as she shared with Variety earlier this year.
“Boots reached out to me in August of 2024, offering me a role in his film,” Melissa recounted. “After he sent that message, I received five other offers almost simultaneously. It felt like he flipped a switch. I call him ‘The Wizard.’ The energy changed completely. I ended up taking on The Copenhagen Test instead, as it was a longer commitment and I needed to work, but I genuinely credit him for being the only person in the industry who reached out and said, ‘Let me help you out.’”
