Overwatch 2 says “Player is in a different version of Overwatch” because you’re not using the beta version of Battle.net.

If you’re not using the beta mode of the client, you’ll get the error message.

To fix “Player is in a different version of Overwatch” in Overwatch 2, you need to switch to the beta version of Battle.net.

You can do this by opening Battle.net > logo > Settings > Beta > Switch to Beta.

You can also try using “/invite (their http://Battle.net tag)” and to join them, type “/join (their http://Battle.net tag).”

After you’ve switched to beta, restart the client and launch Overwatch 2.

Here’s how to switch to the beta version of Battle.net:

  1. Exit Overwatch 2.
  2. Launch Battle.net.
  3. Click on the Battle.net logo.
  4. Select “Settings”.
  5. Select “Beta”.
  6. Click on the “Switch to Beta” button.

After you’ve clicked on the “Switch to Beta” button, the client will restart.

Lastly, launch Overwatch 2 and you will be able to play with your friends.
