Effectively. Quite a bit occurred in Home of the Dragon Season 2, episode 1. However whereas loads of the important thing gamers have been on the market making rash selections and performing on impulse, among the Crimson Hold’s greatest snakes have been simply getting began.
Enter Larys Robust (Matthew Needham), assassin of members of the family, ft fan, and budding Littlefinger. The royal courtroom’s Lord Confessor did not have an excessive amount of to do within the new season’s first outing — at the least not but — however there was one key dialog that made us assume he is as much as no good once more.
So what did Larys say, and what would possibly it imply for his future intentions?
‘Home of the Dragon’ Season 2 assessment: A tragedy written in fireplace and blood
What did Larys Robust say to King Aegon?
Halfway by way of the episode there is a sequence the place the newly topped King Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) is holding courtroom within the Nice Corridor, listening to numerous requests from the “small people” whereas his grandfather and Hand of the King Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) offers him recommendation. Larys, in the meantime, watches from the aspect of the corridor — and when Aegon is completed, he pulls the younger king apart for a quiet phrase. Here is the change that takes place between them, in full:
Larys Robust: “‘Tis the Hand’s wish to preserve a agency grip on issues. He managed your father the identical approach. Viserys had a sure status of being pliable.”
Aegon Targaryen: “I’m conscious.”
LS: “I’d assume, as we discover ourselves standing in a hair’s breadth of battle, that you’d want to be considered otherwise.”
AT: “How?”
LS: “Otto Hightower was your father’s hand, your grace.”
So…what’s he as much as?

What’s Larys Robust planning?
Larys’ essential objective from the beginning of Home of the Dragon appears to have been just like Littlefinger’s objective in Sport of Thrones: his personal ascension. In Season 1, Larys ingratiates himself with Queen Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) and arranges for the homicide of his personal brother and father so as to inherit the “Lord” title for himself. The Crimson Hold’s chief data extractor (by no matter means crucial), he likes to be as near energy as attainable, and have the ear of the higher-ups.
King Aegon II, it appears, it his new goal. However as Larys observes within the throne room, Aegon is at the moment underneath the thumb of his grandfather, Otto Hightower. Larys has performed rigorously round Otto, even undermining Alicent at instances with him. Our guess is that Larys is attempting to govern Aegon into eliminating Otto in order that he could make extra room for himself on the Small Council.
With Otto out of the way in which, Larys would doubtless have a fair better affect over the king.
