Hit-and-run incidents typically involve vehicles; however, in a shocking turn of events in Florida on Sunday, a boat fled the scene after colliding violently with a ferry, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries, according to police reports.

The tragic event transpired on Sunday evening in the waters adjacent to the Clearwater Memorial Causeway Bridge in Clearwater, FL. Here, a recreational vessel collided with the ferry, which was carrying 45 passengers at the time of the accident, as reported by law enforcement authorities.

In the moments immediately following the collision, the recreational boat sailed away, leaving behind the severely damaged ferry and its distressed passengers.

Authorities reported that six individuals on the ferry experienced trauma, with two suffering severe injuries that necessitated airlifting to a nearby hospital, where one sadly succumbed to their injuries.

The local fire department classified the incident as a “mass casualty event” due to the significant number of injuries sustained by the passengers onboard the ferry.
