Gabby Douglas Pulls Out Of U.S. Championships
Douglas’ unfortunate injury ends her bid for the 2024 Paris Olympic group. Gabby returned to the competitors this spring soon after nearly an eight-year absence, hoping to make the U.S. group for this summer’s Paris Games.
Regardless of the situations, the gymnast told ESPN that she is proud of what she has achieved more than her 18-month comeback.
“I enjoy this sport and I enjoy pushing my limits, I hope I can inspire each my peers and the subsequent generation of gymnasts that age is just a quantity, and you can achieve something you function difficult for,” Douglas told ESPN.
According to EPSN, Gabby is the very first Black gymnast to win the Olympic all-about title at the 2012 London Games and helped the U.S. earn back-to-back group golds in London and Rio in 2016.
Gabby officially announced her comeback earlier this year in February. She later returned to competitors in April at the American Classic in Katy, Texas, exactly where she certified for the U.S. championships.

Gabby Appears Forward To The Future
The U.S. championships would have been Gabby’s final opportunity to acquire an invitation to the Olympic trials in Minneapolis in June. Having said that, she plans to continue instruction in preparation for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. She will also reunite with her longtime representative, Lowell Taub of Variety Sports.
“I proved to myself and to the sport that my capabilities stay at an elite level. My strategy is to continue to train for the L.A. 2028 Olympics. It would be such an honor to represent the U.S. at a residence Olympics,” Gabby stated in a statement.
